The Copper Boyz are cowboys in Kansas City, known for riding horses through nightlife and sharing the saddle with unsuspecting passersby. By day, they are brothers, mentors, and community leaders on the city's East Side, turning their own histories with incarceration into a daily practice of stewarding land and teaching horsemanship to local kids in neighborhoods reeling from decades of disinvestment and violence. Through candid scenes shot on digital and 16mm formats, self-shot footage from the Copper Boyz, intimate interviews, and immersive sound-design, this film finds the tenderness beneath the cowboy image and builds a collective portrait voiced by the Copper Boyz and their community.
